    * Reservation fees made for training are "non-refundable." Classes can be rescheduled up to 24 hours before the date of the class, if fail to reschedule the full cost of the class will be lost. Members will have a 20% discount in all classes taught by MCTA. Discounts will not include guest instructors who are not affiliated with MCTA Inc.

    • Class Synopsis:

      The Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol responsibly, and with confidence. As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following:

       

      - Principles of concealment

      - The difference between cover and concealment

      - Drawing from the holster

      - Levels of mental awareness

      - Developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection

      - Clearing common stoppages

      - Confrontation avoidance

      - Flash sight picture

      - Reloading under stress

      - Immediate action drills

      - Range training

       

      Firearm, Holster and Ammo Requirements:
      Your firearm must be fully functional. "Pocket Pistols" are not allowed due to their very small size and difficulty of use. Holsters must correctly fit the firearm, completely cover the trigger guard and remain open when the firearm is removed. Electronic hearing protection is strictly advised. You will need 2 extra magazines or speed loaders. Your firearm should be 9mm or larger caliber. 

       

      Course Outline:

      - Basic draw presentation

      - Ballistics demonstration

      - Equipment and why it matters

      - Reload drills

      - Demonstrate Malfunction drills

      - Be guided in choosing your gear

      - Why the equipment you have may not be what you need

       

      Details:

      Class duration 8 hours

      From 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

      Half of this class will be taught in our indoor facility (1309 Hauhg Av. Picayune, MS 39466) and the other half at the range.

      Indoor facility: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm  

      Outdoor Facility: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

       

      Bring:
      350 rounds pistol

      2 extra magazines or speed loaders
      Bring safety glasses and ear-pro
      Bring plenty of water
      Wear getting dirty clothes

      Concealment garment such as a jacket, etc

       

      Unlike many other courses, we don’t use PowerPoint. You will be hands on for the full 8 hours. Be ready to learn.
